RESTING PLACES IN A GARDEN

All gardens need resting places for the weary gardener to relax and enjoy his or her work.Or maybe for a visitor to sit and take in your garsen. Here are a few you might enjoy .

ROOTING BOXWOODS

Have you ever rooted boxwoods? Now is the time to do it-June, July and August seems to work best for rooting evergreens. Cut of a piece about 6 to 8 inches long and strip the botton leaves. I just stick mine in the ground in a shady place that doesn't dry out  too much. They will be rooted by spring, when you can transplant, though most of the time I don't transplant until the fall-I hate watering and if you transplant in fall  you don't have to water as much. I guess you coould plant from seed, though I never have. See the little seed pods on the bush above. I would pick them and put them in the fridge, so they can go through a cold period-and then plant them in the spring.

THE VEGETABLE GARDEN EVERYBODY WANTS

Come through the garden gate for a tour of this wonderful vegetable garden. This was on a tour I took in the spring, so don't know who the lucky owner is. A garden like this would make a farmer out of me!

Paths wide enough for a wheelbarrow, and no mud when you are watering! A fence to keep the dogs out and a chair to relax in-this garden has everything!

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN HUBBY TRIES TO HELP

This is what happens when you water your plants with our city water-I guess there is too much clorine or whatever. Wonder if our insides look like this from drinking it? I water from the bottom or use soaker hoses, but hubby was just trying to help. People that don't know any different think a little spray of water on top will do it-NOT! I was very calm-for me and showed him the soaker hoses and what they were for. It will take a while for it to look better again, but that's life in a garden.

FROGGY GOES A COURTING

Well maybe not, I don't know what he is doing out there making all that noise in my pond, but he sure is LOUD about it.He has been here for several years. I do know when my 3 little dogs start barking, he barks back.HA! I am surprised the neighbors haven't complained-though of course my next door neighbor is almost completely deaf.

I think he might be a leopard frog, but I am not sure. But notice the markings on his head and face, kind of scary looking really.
