OOPS! Info on the previous post

I must have stayed out in the sun too much today, I completely forgot to tell you what the pictures in the previous post are-though you may know. Anyway the yellow shrub is a St. John's wort- aren't the yellow flowers beautiful? I certainly need to move it,because it is getting to be the size of a mack truck and it is crowding out everything else. And of course you know what the 'Easter lillies'are. Every year I plant my leftover Easter lillies from church and beleive me they should be called rabbit lillies- they multiply faster than any rabbit!

A BIG GARDEN PEST!

this is one big garden pest! i was driving through a part of our town last week that i usually don't travel. i saw what i thought was a dog up ahead- anyway i slowed down and almost fainted when i realized it was a pig! in the city limits! anyway when i came back by about an hour later, i almost hit the pig and two boys who were chasing it- they said he had ruined their yard! yes ,a pig can do some major damage in short order. this is one of the reasons i strongly beleive in fencing your yard and garden- one never knows what critter will wander up- even in the city limits!

SITTING IN THE GARDEN

a garden needs lots of places to sit and look at all the hard work you have done, or to relax and plan your next big project. judy has lots of places in her garden to do this- these are not all of them, just a few. they do make you want to sit down and visit a while, don't they?

HARDY PLANTS IN JUDY'S GARDEN

judy picked some very hardy plants for her garden, after all none of us have as much time as we once did to work in a garden. Plants like this coreopsis and this yellow honeysuckle thrive with only occasional care, and the umbrella plant by her pond is o.k. with only an occasional watering.

These are succulents from Judy's garden. And did you notice the little critter in the pot at the bottom, I can't beleive I was brave enough to get that close. I am a fraidy cat gardener- I don't like critters!

JUDY'S GARDEN

Today we will visit Judy's garden. She is a Master Gardener in Scott County.Her bottle brush tree is at peak now. Judy has numerous places to sit and enjoy her garden, we will do a post on garden seating later. She has a big problem with her husbands cows leaning over the fence and eating her plants, so she has to make sure she is planting things far enough away from that fence! Who knew cows ate all that different stuff? Judy also has one of the largest fig trees, it must take days to pick all those figs! We will be showing her succulent garden later, also.

GREEN THUMBS IN THE PARK

Yesterday the Master Gardeners and the Extension Service sponsored GREEN THUMBS IN THE PARK. We have a beautiful park downtown and the day was perfect. We had several speakers from Ms State,vendors selling birdhouses, plants, gourd art and yard art. We also had several demonstrations going on as well as our plant sale, with plants grown by Master Gardeners. The day was a sucess and we plan to do it again next year.

DEER HUNTING

Can you see the deer in this? He was a mess a few weeks ago, but after a good haircut he looks better. There is so much other green around him that I can't get a good picture, but trust me he is a very cute deer. He started out as one of those white metal christmas reindeer- I sprayed him dark green and anchored him to the ground and planted jasmine at the bottom of each of his feet. It took about nine months to really cover the form.
